xnmsnmpconf is the application run when you select Options->SNMP
Configuration. You say the window shows a community name compatible with
your routers. There is one thing I suggest you try. Run the
command "xnmsnmpconf -clearcache" as root. Netview maintains a cache for IP
addresses and SNMP parameters and the cache probably has all your old
settings. See "man xnmsnmpconf" for a fuller description about what this
option does. You could also do a "-dumpcache -verbose" to confirm this before
you clear the cache.
Good
luck

Hello,
Under
"option->snmp configuration" menu, almost all the routers are showing correct
"community name" as defined. All these community name is also defined in
"communityNames.conf" file. Also, I am able to do demand poll for all these
routers through GUI.
After
disabling "public" community name, I have not run xnmsnmpconf. What is the
correct syntax to run xnmsnmpconf for all the routers.
Regards,
Anupam
You
must also configure the netview polling to use one of these new community
names. Have you run xnmsnmpconf to use one of the new ones, if not, it is
probably still using public?
Regards
Robin
Hello Everybody,
We are having NetView 6.0.2 on AIX 4.3.3
We have defined six different community names in
"communityNames.conf" file under /usr/OV/conf directory for our routers. Each
routers have been configured to send SNMP trapd to two AIX
boxes(production+lab).
Recently, we started getting the following errors in our
trapd.log :- ++++++ 1064214682

These errors were not coming earlier. But now are coming for
almost all the routers. Probably, network administrators have removed public
community name from all these routers. I suppose, public community name is not
mandatory?
Then what could be the reason for these errors and where this
could impact?
Regards, Anupam
