Hi,
I
thought of that and got a static address and the problem still occurs.
Though I would have assumed that if it was an IP address problem the problem
would occur on all connections - my only problem is connecting to AIX boxes with
NetView installed.
In
response to John Bruer... John, I did not explain myself very well (not
unusual :-)) I do not leave the sessions open for extended periods of time - the
longest would be a couple of hours when I am working on the NetView map.
Any other work I do on the server is through a seperate terminal
emulator. I use rexec(TCP/IP) for connections - I just use the wizard
to make the connection. The next time I get the error I will try a
connection via telnet. Thanks for the link to vnc - I will have
a look
As
usual, thanks for the prompt replies and help.

Could the IP address of the PC be changing,
i.e. you've reached over half the DHCP expiry time?
So the hostname of the PC used for the rexec
does not match the new PC ip address.
