Re: [nv-l] Netview RDMS configuration:

You install the database component from the CD, just as you do the product itself and the books, Since the database component also requires Tivoli RIM, to connect NetView to the RDBMS, and RIM requires the Framework, this installation is only available through the standard Tivoli desktop. It cannot be standalone.
So you must have Framework installed, NetView installed via the Framework, and then you install The NetView Database Component in the same way. This adds the scripts and the book that tells you all about what to do.
This is a very non-trivial undertaking and cannot be glossed over in a note.

Subject: [nv-l] Netview RDMS configuration:
|
We plan to install the DB (DB2) on a server other than the Netview server, probably on our INV4.0 DB server in that we plan populate it with Netview data. Based on what I have read in the manuals, I do not have the Netview database component installed. The Data Base guide mentions the "Netview Database Component" and only says to check for a directory "/usr/OV/scripts", apparently as a confirmation of the component being installed . The Configuration Guide pretty much says the same. The install guide is not clear on this procedure either.
How do you install/configure the NetView database component?
Thanks
