If it is indeed true that NetView is using async i/o, then more tuning can be done on AIX by running "smitty aio" -> change/show char of async i/o -> increase the minimum number of servers to at least 10.  Also bump the maximum number of servers to, say, 80.  These are typical numbers for tuning async i/o for Oracle.
