Well, I just guessing because you haven't told us which box has which IP
address and your snmpd.conf uses only IP addresses, but I'll bet that
neither one of your NetView's can do an snmpget on the other one. There
is only one box in each snmpd.conf which can use public, so whenever the
other NetView queries it, you will get authentication failures. When you
code something like this:
community public 172.20.4.69 255.255.255.255
the subnet mask of 255.255.255.255 restricts the use of that community
name to just the box with the IP address of 172.20.4.69
Try it yourself. Go to the command line of one of the boxes and try
"snmpwalk <otherNetView> and I'll bet it times out.
