On an AIX server reducing the udp_recvspace means any udp datagram, including Netview traps, can be dropped.  You can determine whether the udp space should be increased by running the command "netstat -p udp" and look for the number of datagrams dropped.  (Also, look at netstat -p tcp and netstat -p ip and netstat -d).  Read up on the man page for netstat.
