The original note was about the TEC adapter shipped with NetView for
Windows. It's completely different than what is shipped on UNIX because
there is no nvserverd in NetView for Windows.
You are doing the correct thing for UNIX.

The TEC adapter on NT is a port of the old, no longer available, NetView
6000 adapter that TEC shipped before, and just after, the Tivoli merger.
It was very similar to the HPOV adapter that they still ship. NetView
development needed another daemon to do the forwarding, so they ported
what TEC already had, thinking it would be easy to explain to people how
to use it. It isn't. On NetView for NT there are all the adapter files
described in the TEC Event Adapters Guide: CONF, CDS, ERR, OID, and so on.

 I don't think you will ever see this kind of thing brought back for
NetView for UNIX. Rulesets are easier to understand and putting the slot
maps in trapd.conf means there is just one place to go to configure traps,
but some flexibility is lost in configuration. It was seldom used,
however.

where is this tec adapter and where is it documented ?
I have been researching for all the different solution to forward Netview
events to TEC. The only place I see it in Netview is in serversetup, to
forward all the events to TEC with a ruleset. I am also aware of the
postmsg and wpostmsg commands that come with the Tivoli End Point.

what are the advantages of the different solutions ?

Netview 7.1.3, AIX 5.1 and Tivoli Framework 4.1 is installed

Thanks,

You are very downlevel and there have been many problems with the
Windows=20
TEC adapter solved between 7.1 and 7.1.3 Fixpack, which is the current=20
level.
If you want to do this, I would recommend that you get current first.=20

Also, the TME-version requires that the Framework be installed on the
NT=20
box and that the Framework libraries and binaries be in your path. You=20
might want to check that. You might also try the non-TME version in the=20
meantime and see if that works any better for you.=20
