Swen,
Go to the /usr/OV/tmp directory and do an ls -l of all the explorer
files. You should see something like this:

-rwxrwxrwx 1 userid1 bin 26 Mar 17 14:00 explore_17100
-rwxrwxrwx 1 userid2 bin 26 Mar 17 13:58 explore_23252
-rwxrwxrwx 1 userid3 bin 27 Mar 17 15:47 explore_37032
-rwxrwxrwx 1 userid4 bin 26 Mar 17 13:38 explore_40798
-rwxrwxrwx 1 userid5 bin 26 Mar 10 16:23 explore_41168
-rwxrwxrwx 1 userid6 bin 27 Mar 14 22:23 explore_58062
-rwxrwxrwx 1 userid7 bin 26 Mar 14 21:21 explore_61242
-rwxrwxrwx 1 userid8 bin 26 Mar 17 14:13 explore_69554

You didn't say what version of NetView you are running. The above
listing is for 6.0.3 and the Read/Write map is the process with the 27 byte
file. If you are running 7.1.x you will see the Read/Write with a 26 byte
size, and the Read-Only maps with a 25 byte file size.

YOU WILL FIND 2 FILES WITH THE READ/WRITE SIZE

The process number is the number appended to the end of the file name.
Figure out which ReadWrite process no longer exists and delete that file name.
You should no longer have the 2 listings on your web client windows.
If you see this, another thing that may exist is an un-parented jre
process. You can find it by using "ps -ef | grep jre | grep " 1 "" command.
That last grep will find the process owned by the init process (process #1). If
you find one, kill it as it will tie up a CPU and do other strange things to
your NetView server.

        Hope this helps,
                Bill

Subject: [nv-l] Multiple read/write maps at the web console

Hello,

if i try to open a map at the web console, it shows 2 open read write maps with
the name
default. One of them works as well. The other don't shows any icons.

I think one of them is a previously opened map and the webserver did not
recognize that the map was closed.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Swen
