Sorry but no. You are smack up against design limitations built into the
product from it's earliest days.
All changes are to the r-w map only. That's why it's called read-write
and the others are read-only . And since refresh is almost the same thing
as killing the user's GUI, it is not "automatable" from the command line
directly. It was long ago decided that pulling the rug out from under a
user when he might be trying to drill down into something to solve
critical problem was not user-friendly enough. You could send mail or
cause a pop-up message to tell the r-o user to refresh the map, or you can
kill his GUI for him, thus forcing him to re-open it, but that's all.
If your RO maps are local you might look at the nv6000_smit command, which
is a big script. "nv6000_smit forcelocal EUIonly" might just do what you
want with regard to killing all ovw processes on the server.

Subject: [nv-l] Changing label of object; refreshing read-only
map
Do either of the API calls OVwSetSymbolLabel or nvotChangeVertexLabelInBox
change the label on the Read-only map. I am trying to change the label of
an object based on its status, but it only seems to work on the rw map. I
also need to change it on the RO map.
If not, does anyone know of a way to automate refreshing the RO map to
update this label change? Possibly command line or API call?
This is AIX 4.1.5 Netview 4.1
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jeff
