For what its worth, I think the specific MIB browsing results you list
below are correct (but this does not necessarily help you with resolving
your trap problem).
The MIBs you load into the NMS only affect resolving of numbers into
labels, not what gets polled or whether or not you get object variable
values returned by devices.
The CISCO-PRODUCTS-MIB does not define any new variables - it just assigns
labels to Cisco product OIDs. When you issue the MIB browse commands that
you list below, on the ciscoProducts branch, whether from the GUI browser
or the command line with snmpget/snmpwalk, you will not get object variable
values returned because there are no objects in that part of the tree. This
is what you see. Loading this MIB only results in 48, 301 etc being
translated,as you note.
Regarding the product identification query, I believe the way NetView asks
"What product are you?" is an SNMP Get on
.iso.org.dod.internet.mgmt.mib-2.system.sysObjectID.0 and this should
return the OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.48 if it is a Cisco 7505.
Regarding the NetView manual telling you to query
.iso.org.dod.internet.mgmt.mib.system.sysDescr.0, this must be a typo.
"mib" was defined in RFC 1066 back in August 1988 and made obsolete by RFC
1156 in May 1990. I have never seen a vendor claim to implement it. They
all implement "mib-2" which was defined in RFC 1213 in 1991.

Back to your trap - I would check the snmp view setting , suggested by
another list subscriber (sorry, I have lost the mail.)
