Scott --

Forgive me, but I am not certain just what you are asking. mib2trap
gives you an addtrap script with a default format that lists the name of
the enterprise, the generic and specific trap numbers, and lists all the
variables in a "Log Only" event. You can use xnmtrap to change any or all
of this.
How do you get all the varbinds? Your can just put in $* and they will
all be listed. You might want to re-read the man page on trapd.conf if
this is news to you.
What do the varbinds mean? For that you have to consult the hardware doc
that came with the device. Or look for some on-line. Or peruse the MIB
itself and see what the objects are and the comments say, if there are
any. I was just going by what the trap itself said. The only real
message I saw in what you posted was:
"The operation has failed because the library door is open: 1. Clear any
obstructions from the library door. 2. Close the library door."

The rest of it was all just MIB objects, which you can find in the MIB if
you really want to, and see what it says about them.

Seriously, Scott, I don't know anything about the IBM Tape Library. It's
just another piece of hardware to me. If there's any doc, then it is
probably in the manuals that the owner got when he took delivery. If you
aren't the owner, then presumably the trap means something to him that it
does not mean to you. There may be on-line doc available at
http://www.ibm.com, but you would have to look for it. Personally, I
think you are making too big a deal out of it if you go that far. Most of
the time, you should be able to dig most, if not all, of what you want out
of the MIB itself. Does the MIB have comments in it where it defines
the traps? How about the various objects included as varbinds? Those
comments might be the best place to look.

Good luck

The owner of the Tape Library is interested in all of the varbinds. How
would I be able to give them all to him?

I used the mib2trap and I am not sure how I would format the traps. Is
there
any documentation that may help me out here?

Loaded the MIB? Loading MIBs does not format the trap in trapd.conf. You

need to run mib2trap for that. It produces addtrap output to add the trap

to trapd.conf.
Even so, it looks to me as though varbind 7 contains the important
information. So you will probably want to change the default formatting
provided by mib2trap into something more readable for the operators.

NetView 6.0.3 AIX 4.3.3

I am working with an IBM Tape library that sends traps to NetView when it
experiences issues. I loaded the MIB and when the traps come in they look
like below. Is there a step I am missing here?
