No, Fawad. It is not that it is a sensitive issue. The problem here is
that Tivoli Netview has a highly efficient, very well trained, helpful
staff that has been established to handle real problems with the product.
What everyone has been saying is that this issue must be addressed to those
people for proper handleing.

This forum is a means for we (the users and administrators of Netview) to
assist each other by shareing knowledge and experience. Thus relieving the
load on the formal help staff to address issues like you have noticed. It
is good for us all to be aware of known problems, but the engineering staff
are the people to correct this type of problem - not us.

Thank you,

Mike

I think its pretty easy to understand the issue here - if only one is
willing to listen. Obviously Netview has some (I would call it deficiency,
not necessarily a defect) in that it is unable to display some SNMP v2 trap
in all its beauty, while some "generic" SNMP trap catchers are.

Hopefully this is a little more clear now.

It seems to me that this is a sensitive topic with some folks - maybe
better
left alone!

Reading Mr Qureshi's previous posts, it sounds as though he is having the
same difficulty that
I am (see previous post titled "trapd dropping last digit from
incoming..."). Perhaps there is a bug in the 7.1.2 version of trapd?

I don't understand what you don't understand. I suggest you call IBM
Support and get a definitive answer from them.

AIX 4.3.3 and Netview 7.1.1

I am still unclear on why is it that I am able to see a SNMP v2 trap come
in
to a generic SNMP Manager in the proper format with all the expected
information, while I am unable to get that in Netview? I have SNMP v2
traps
from various vendors (Veritas, CypherOptics, etc.) that I am not receiving
with all pertinent information. What am I missing here?

Thanks.

Cheers,
