Paul,

NetView Switch Analyzer manages switches using some specific MIBs.    The
non-IP interfaces, those are on routers or switches?   If routers, have you
tried to update your netmon seed file so that the routers are polled via
SNMP instead of pings?    I thought that NetView would discover and status
poll those interfaces using the MIBs if you did that.

If it is a switch, then Switch Analyzer would be good for you to check out.
It includes a root fault analysis process that generates a root cause trap
when problems occur.   You could automate a page from that within NetView.
