Hi
list,
NV: 7.1.2, w2k
sp2. 1way ~1.7Ghz cpu, 1Gb ram
I've been tracing my
snmpcollect & I keep getting defferred collections for devices. I'm
(trying to) collect 3 mib values (2 of them collect "all instances" from the
device, but there are only up to 4 instances) from about 40 devices with a
10 min polling interval. I've noticed that some devices are getting up to
7-8 consecutive deferrals.
The log shows NV
making about 10-15 polls and defferring the rest. I've adjusted down the
retry interval to be 1 min (impatient testing) and thinking that having
a retry less than the polling interval will give it a chance to catch up
within the interval. This seems to have helped it reduce the number of
consecutive defferrals, but I still get a fair few and it's likely I will need
to increse the number of collections beyond the simple ones I'm grabbing
now.
Is there a planning
tool/guideline/general practice about how many collections can be made in what
interval on w2k? Is it an OS thing? The machine isn't a
multi-processor (didn't think NV on NT would make use of it). There is
nothing else running on this machine either.
thanks in
advance.
