I can think of a few ways to achieve what you want:

1. use the IP range in seedfile and do not discover the non-servers at all,
if you don't need to know about them.

2. create a smartset for the servers, then use a ruleset to query smartset,
then forward to TEC. Netview comes with some baroc and rules files.

3. can set a filter in Netview to see the events you want to see.

4. In the your nodedown ruleset, you can have a script to check the
IP/hostname.

Other Netview users might have smarter ways to do this.
What is your platform? Note that you cannot do ruleset editing in Netview
for Windows.

Subject: [nv-l] interface up down and node up down event...

Dear all,
My customer got a lot of nodes include servers and non-servers (personal
computer) and all them discovered by Netview. My customer was happy about
this except that too many interface up down and node up down events. Could
I just receive such events from servers? (IP located in xx.xx.xx.1~31 are
servers). How could I set such filter that only events originated from ip
address located in xx.xx.xx.1~31 are received in Netview or TEC or any
workaround ? If it could be done in TEC, could you provide some rule sample
code? Thanks.......
