Folks,
A few of you have expressed interest in a NetView users group since the
Tivoli ones tend to cover much broader topic ranges than a lot of folks
are interested in. I am all for that, but my feeling is that many of the
people on this list who would like to participate couldn't travel to do
that. What I would like to propose is a virtual users group. Here are my
thoughts:
-Regularly scheduled meetings that are done in as a webcast or emeeting.
These would consist of a presentation(s) on topics requested by the
members
-At the end of each meeting, there would be a formal requirements session,
where requirement from the last meeting are reviewed (including updates on
their status) and new requirements are discussed and prioritized
-If this were successful and there was enough interest, we could possibly
do some live meetings at some point as well.
In order for this to be successful, I think there are a few requirements
that would need to be met. I've covered some of them, but would need some
help on others:
-Development would need to participate in the meetings (I have received
commitment from NetView development for support once a quarter)
-Product Management would need to participate (I have received commitment
from Product management)
-There would need to be a customer owner, or preferably owners (Anyone
want to volunteer?)
-In order for this to truly be a User's group, this is key. This
person would be the focal point for things like setting the charter,
deciding on frequency of and content of meetings (with input from
the members of course)
-We would need to get set up as an official Tivoli User group. I spoke
with the representative this morning, and once we get the owners, charter,
etc . decided on, she will work with me to get us all set up on the
website.
Please let me know what you think - I know that no one here is shy about
that!
