Thanks, Don, but this is not the correct MIB variable.  It does not give the 
same information.  What I am looking for is the table that gives the MAC 
addresses of the devices that are connected to the individual Ethernet ports 
[as given by the show mac command].

Just to further clarify, the switch is a Cisco 3548.

You probably want the MIB-2 variable that returns the ARP cache.

snmpwalk [target] .1.3.6.1.2.1.4.22.1.2
