Scott,
I have
a T-shirt for that one too :)
Yes,
thousands of objects in a collection can put your object count over the ovwdb
cache limit if you are not careful.
I have
learned to always specify isNode=True in my SmartSet definitions (if
appropriate).
I
learned this when a Collection and a node had a similar Selection Name. My
SmartSet wase based upon the first few characters of the Selection Name matching
XXXX. Well, my Smartset's Selection Name also began with
XXXX.
My
SmartSet contained itself "ad Infinitum" ..... very bad thing to do...

I recently noticed that there was a smartset that contained thousands of
nodes. It appears that there was an error made when the smartset was created.
There were no rulesets looking at this smartset. I deleted the smartset and my
performance has increased significantly. A lot of posts I have put out here in
the last couple of weeks may have been due to this. Has anyone else seen this?
Can a large smartset affect NetView this negatively?
Thanks,
