I definatley did my 7.1 install with no network connection. I am on solaris
though not AIX. What would happen with no network connection (and presumably
no seed file) is that the local subnet only would be discovered - in this
case, the only adress on the local subnet will be the one within the box. I
assume that although you had not network connection, you have a network card
with a valid address on it.

Subject: [NV-L] Non TME NetView 7.1 installation

Hi, all,

first of all perhaps a nonsense. Did somebody try to install NetView
without a network conexion? Did it fail? Does anyody know what should
happen if i did so? Please, tell me your experience.

And now, i am trying to install NetView 7.1 in a non TME environment. So i
have tried with the release notes to install and i did not succeed. the
installation finishes "completed with errors" and you can see in the
installation log file some error messages like these:

NOTE: starting nvsecd
ovstart: unable to connect ovspmd:no such file or directory
awk: 0602-533 Cannot find or open file 17862
The input line number is 55. The file is 17862.
The sourceline number is 1
ERROR: unable to start nvsecd with ovstart
+dspmsg -s 5 nv6000.cat 9999 Customize: Failing customize with exit code
ERROR: Customize script for fileset OVWIN exited with code 2
nvconfgbf: failing doing configuration with exit code 2
base: failing base.config with exit code 2

Did somebody found these error messages?

Thkx in advance and regards.
