If netview is able to get the OID from the device then SNMP is supported.
thats my understanding.

Subject: [NV-L] Setting isSNMPSupported capability field

I am trying to understand what sets the isSNMPSupported field to TRUE in
a Netview database object for a DEC concentrator 900MX.

This is what I think happens. The value obtained for sysObjectID is used
to translate the oid to a symbol using /usr/OV/conf/C/oid_to_sym. This
gives Connector:Multi-port which sets a few capability fields as defined
in /usr/OV/symbols/C/Connector: isRepeater, isHub, isNode and
isConnector.

The data in Connector does not use isSNMPSupported so what does cause
this capability field to be set?

Is it set simply because Netview is able to get a value for sysObjectID?

TIA
