This might be ok, Salvatore. Assuming the devices that will be changing
are PCs and printers etc, then they are only shown below the network
submaps, down in the segment submaps. The customization that has
been done probably involves putting routers and networks in location
submaps. If you delete and rediscover the devices that are becoming
DHCP, you will probably get some new networks, which will be easy
to move to their proper place, but the routers and the networks between
them will not move. The PCs will all be automatically placed in the
correct networks.

If they really do not want to manage the DHCP devices, then this would
be a good time to exclude them from discovery by adding negative
address ranges to the seedfile. The ranges should match the DHCP
address ranges defined to their DHCP server.

Worst case, if you must rediscover the entire network, then - no -
there is no way to reserve the customization. You might try collecting
that information now and building a location.conf file with it, to help
speed things up if you must do the rediscovery in the future.

Cordially,

Hi,
i have a netview 6.02 on aix 433 with 35000 objects ( NT box, cicso box
and ibm printer )
the customer want change the entire adressing of own network and netmask.
actually he use ip static on the own box, and he would use DHCP . The
netview maps are very cutomized.
The question is : is possible to save the customized maps and netview
will compatible with this new scenario ?

thanks

P.S. sorry for my poor english.....
