Yes, as far as I know, un-managing a device is not possible from the CLI.  This 
would be very high on my priority list.  We use a product (Tavve NITS) that 
performs several functions based on whether or not a device is managed.  We 
only use 1 map but the read-write version of the map is always running in our 
network operations center, making remote managed vs. un-managed state changes 
impossible.

A real oversight on Tivoli's part when so many other automated tools exist that 
do not require interaction with the map...

Which begs the question ...

Isn't unmanaging an object yet another function for which there is no
command line interface?
