  How about monitoring the port on the router, if the port on the switch, which 
connects to this router, goes downm the router port should turn red.  Example:  
Router 4500 port E0 goes to port F0/1 on a Cisco 2924, when port F0/1 goes down 
the router port E0 should turn red (unable to ping).

              Thanks for your reply. Let me again give you some more 
explaination what I am trying to do here. Let you know I am little new to 
netview. I need to monitor the port on which my router is connected. Monitor 
means I need to know when this port will become faulty and goes down or come up 
etc. It will be great if you could teach me how can I able to configure my 
netview to know what weather the traffic is flowing through the port or not. 
Can I pull this data to show up on a graph so that anyone can see and figure it 
out that weather the traffic is going through that particular port or not.  
Just to let u know my target is only PORT not whole the switch. Actually I have 
couple of incident in which my port when bad but I was not able to detect this. 
I will only get the alert if whole switch will go down.

  Can you please advise how I can overcome my this problem ? Thanks
