If you put a name type of entry
in the seedfile, like
!workstation*
the names will have to be in the
reverse DNS or NetView will find
the workstations by IP address and
keep them. Also, you might have
to enter the domain name too if
your DNS returns such. For example,
if the DNS returned (for an IP address)
workstation1.company.com
then I would put
!workstation*.company.com
in the seedfile.
If the DNS returns only the hostname,
workstation1, then I would put
!workstation*
in the seedfile.
Actually probably wouldn't hurt to put both
in just to be sure.
But...the key point is...if the IP addresses
are not in the reverse DNS, then the name type
entries in the seedfile won't matter. In that
case you'll have to put the workstation addressis
(or ranges) in the seedfile.
