TEC slot mappings have to be configured just as the event message in the
window does. There is a button in xnmtrap to allow you to do this when you
modify a trap.

Hi James,

thank you for your answer. Yes, it is NetView's Interface down trap
58916867.
First I tried to configure the event with the Alert Editor, but this is
only
valable for SNA events. So I added $4 to the event and in the Control Desk
window
I can see the expansion of this message. But until now I didn't receive any
message from the Extreme Router.
But what I saw is, that the expanded message was send to the TEC in only
the
old
short form. Is this a bug?

With best regards

Whose trap is this? NetView's Interface down trap, 58916867? Then the
router's SNMP agent is not supplying the interface name correctly.
Normally the name of the interface is included in the trap, e.g, "Interface
tr0 down". So do an snmpwalk of the device to see what is returned and
then correct its configuration if you can.

The IP address of the interface, along with that of the parent node, and
the object id of both are included in the fourth variable of that trap so
you can add $4 to the Log message using xnmtrap and see if that helps, but
it will give you more information than you actually want.

Subject: [NV-L] ExtremeNetworks Router

Hello,

since a short time we have installed two routers from ExtremeNetworks
Corp.
I think NetView has some problems with those routers. When an interface
goes
down NetView shows in the event-window a message like
        rif23 Interface down
Until now I have'nt found any way to show the correlated IP-address. Has
someone
any experiences how to do this?

Thank you for help.
