Hi Everyone

I have a large number of IBM 2212 routers located at remote sites connected
over Frame Relay to some IBM 2216 routers in the head office.

If the Frame Relay connection between the 2212 and 2216 fails, each of the
2212s has a PPP port, which connects over ISDN to an ISDN router in the
head office.

Under normal conditions, the status of the IP address of the PPP port on
each 2212 router is "Down".

At the moment, I have "unmanaged" the PPP port on each 2212 so as to not
have the router report as being marginal. This action doesn't actually stop
the router report as being marginal but it does at least change the colour
of the router from yellow to green, which is a good start!

If the Frame Relay connection fails, NetView will report that the network
is unreachable, which is great. What I would like it to do, however is tell
me that the ISDN line has been activated.

I am sure that someone has devised a method of making NetView automatically
handle such events, for example perhaps automatically "managing" the PPP
port on the 2212 router when all the other ports go down.

If there is a redbook that deals with this type of configuration, please
point me in its direction - haven't found any yet.

I appreciate this is a much more complicated and detailed question that a
simple "how-to" but I will gratefully accept any input that any of you
have.

Thanks in advance,
