Look in the NetView Administrator's Guide.   Page 158 in hard copy, or look
in /usr/OV/books/C/pdf  for the Acrobat copy.
Don't have /usr/OV/books/C ?  Put the NetView cd for 6.0 back in the drive,
mount it, and install the books, using "Install Product" from the Tivoli
desktop.

"msg" is usually what you see in the event window for the trap.  Want it to
be different?  Then you must use xnmtrap to change the TEC slot mapping.
Click the Help button there and all your questions about formatting will be
answered.

All,

If I leave the T/EC slot as default does the Event Log Message map over to
the msg T/EC slot?

Also,  where do I look to find out what the vars translate to such as $1,
$2....and so on?

T/EC Event Class:Nvserverd_Event
Source Character: A
Event Log Message: $1
T/EC slot blank/default

Basically, when the event is forwarded to the T/EC I need the msg slot to
have the "system name + trap message".
