If what you say is true, then you have a problem to discuss with Cisco,
because they should send the same things (not the same values of course,
but the same variable elements), all the time. Are you sure they don't use
a more specific enterprise id, such as 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.x.y.z for one of them
and not the other? Most vendors change the enterprise id or the specific
trap number if they want to send different stuff. I have never heard of
another who didn't.
But whatever they send you could format the trap message by saying " $# "
and " $* " in the log message. That will display the number of variables
received and each of them in turn, as described in the man page for
trapd.conf.

Thanks for your input guys, but it's still some parts that are unclear to
me. As you both (Leslie and James) write, I just have to define the
Enterprise (Cisco, 1.3.6.1.4.1.9) if it's not already done, and then add
the event with Enterprise Specific 1as trap number and the rest of the
costomization. So far I'm with you and I can generate event to match my
trap customization. But I do get different traps with the same Enterprise
(Cisco, 1.3.6.1.4.1.9) and the same Enterprise Specific trap number, 1. So,
how do I separate them? The only thing that are different between the two
are the varibles.
