No difference with AIX... we have the latest available Version of CW2000 (AIX
is always the last platform they implement it) and the JavaRuntimeEnvironment
(jre) - processes use all CPU after running for some time. We just start it
from time to time to collect informations about the network and then stop it
again, never leaving it running.

I have no experience with CW2000 on AIX (last version I've used on AIX was
CW 3.2), but the support of CW2000 on HP-UX is lousy and performance is
horrible until you get the right patches and JRE and set the right kernel
parameters (undocumented of course).

For those reason I recommend NT (for small networks) or Solaris with lots of
CPU and memory. Keep CW2000 and NetView on separate machines if possible.

Thank you for the tips, michael.
Need your personal view.
Is it better to run on AIX or on a NT machine?

You have been partly misinformed. The "Campus Manager bundle", which is a
subset of the LMS bundle, is available on AIX (and HP-UX). The CM bundle
includes Resource Manager, Campus Manager, CiscoView and Traffic Director.
All other Cisco management products are only available on NT and Solaris.

Note that the CM bundle is always released somewhat later than LMS, i.e. a
new version of LMS was released beginning of this month, but the CM bundle
is expected beginning of next year.

Hi

I asked my vendor of Ciscoworks2000 if it worked on AIX and he said it was
not ported to AIX and was available to SUN(SOLARIS) and NT, Unlike
Ciscoworks 4 which required a NMS to plug into and would run on AIX.

If I have been misinformed I would really like to know.

Thanks

If small network (less than 1000 devices), okay; otherwise on different
server
please.

Hi all,

Not long ago, someone asked about the similar question on installing
CiscoWorks2000 and Netview in a NT server.
I wonder if it will equally harmful on a Unix box?
Would it affect the performance?
Please pour in your view.

Appreciate all contribution

Thank you
Yong
