Hello,

We've sometimes got the same problem on AIX (Netview 5.1.2).
I have done some tests, but haven't been able to recreate the problem on demand.
I did notice that we only get this problem when starting the MIB Browser from
the GUI, and never had it when starting xnmbrowser from the CLI (is there a
difference ?).
I must admit that I haven't really looked in to this problem : I'm upgrading
to V6.0.1 soon, and I wanted to do some tests there first before opening a PMR.
But since Kristi also has this problem on 6.0.1, I suppose it would be better
to start working on this problem now.

Regards,
Helen

You can do whatever you think is best, but we cannot solve a problem
without data, and if the problem does not occur on our machines, then we
can go no further without customer involvement. I have access to nearly a
dozen Solaris boxes, from 2.5.1 to 2.8 and none of them display this
problem. Without a re-create scenario or a debug effort by the user, the
problem will remain unsolved, until somebody comes forwrad who wants to
work with us.

Hi,

We have that problem. It was reported as a bug to Tivoli. Unfortunately
they wanted us to do their debugging work for them and Netview was/is
already taking up too much of our time with bugs. In the end I let them
close the PMR.

It isn't a permissions problem as we had the same problem running as root.

Hello all,

i have the same problem was reported last year from Sergio.

     I have NetView 5.1.2 AIX 4.3

I have this problem: when I try to read some mib with the mib
browser
being an user different to root the mib browser hang up and the
respective nv6000.log is filled with this message:
Warning: Select failed; error code 9

but if I make the same, being root nothing wrong happened, I think
that
the problem is due to a lack of permissions over some file.

Somebody has seen this problem before ?

Could I fix this problem changing some file permission?

     thanks in advance,

     Sergio Cardona.

We have Netview 6.0 on Solaris 2.7.
I read all mails , but i cant't find a solution for this problem.

Has somebody a fix for this ??

Thanks
Ingo Gerlach
