NetView clients do not hunt for a server.  You have to take action on the client
to disconnect from one and connect to another.  See the Installation and
Configuration Guide about that.  So you'd have to write some script or
application to do the swicth on the client itself.

Subject:  [NV-L] Testing the Server/Client





I am working with a client that has 2 NetView Servers running NV6 on AIX
4.3.3 on 500 Mhz RS/6K. One server is the primary and the second is backup.
They want to be able to test how long it will take for the client (Another
RS/6K)  to detect the Primary server is down and switch connection to the
Backup. THey are not using HACMP. They are using a homegrown application
for availability.  I have not set up a client before and not sure the
client has the ability to automatically switching without some script being
written to take care of. Can anyone shed some light?
