Gareth,
I found the answer for the issue in documentation for TDS not documentation
for NetView. If they have more important things to do than support
customers, then they need to hire more staff. Their workload is not the
problem of customers who are paying for support.  When I work a case with
Cisco, I always (for the last 3 years) get some kind of response within 4
hours. I am also going to forward your response to our customer rep, as I
cannot believe this is the kind response that Tivoli wants to represent
their desired level of customer support.

Mike, Ted, Kelly,
        Please give me your opinion on this response from one of your
engineers. I have forwarded this to my CEO as we are currently in
negotiations with Tivoli for more licensing. I would hope that you would be
able to clarify this for us.

I don't mean to sound rude but they may have had more critical things to
deal
with at the time. I'm quite sure they are as capable of looking up
documentation

I found my own answer. There is a job scheduled with AT called snmpodump
that was (automatically during the install) scheduled. I just had to remove
the entry and the purge stopped. I found the answer under documentation for
installing TDS for NetView 1.0. I was surprised that the Tivoli Technical
support folks did not find the answer before I did.

We have installed NetView 6.0 on NT 4.0 with data being stored in SQL. We
are trying to maintain a 60 - 90 day history on SNMPCollect data. The
NetView is purging records when the database reaches approx 60,000+ records.
We have tried setting purge to never, as well as setting the purge to only
happen once a month.
