I have the same problem from time to time. It seems to be related to the number
of windows opened. When I have running a lot of Windows from Netview and
CiscoWorks2000 it starts that I can't input anything in DialogBoxes using the
keyboard. Cut and paste still works, shell-windows too. Seems to be a problem
of xfree. Restarting the X-Server resolves the problem (...closes all the
windows..).

Ray,
Did you get any errors when you started up the GUI.

(Shooting In The Dark)... almost sounds like the proper fonts weren't
loaded.

Greetings,

I have xfree86 running on a linux machine. I'm using it to run the NetView
console. I am able to start the GUI but don't get any character echo in the
dialog boxes. Any ideas?
