As far is I know it's like described here:

Node Down events are generated when all managed interfaces from this node are 
down. If you have only one Map thats all.

You have to look carefully at the interfaces if you have more than one map. If 
you have one interface unmanaged in your map but managed in another map, you 
may see all managed interfaces on your map as down (red), but the trap "Node 
Down" will not be seen if netmon can still ping the one interface which is 
unmanaged on your map but managed on another map an therefor ping'ed by netmon.

Are NODE UP/DOWN events only generated if ALL the interfaces for a node are
managed?

If a node has unmanaged interfaces, will node up/down events EVER be
generated?
