Is the oserv running?  Can you see it with ps -ef?  If not, what errors do you
get in oservlog?  Can you start the oserv with odadmin shutdown followed by
odadmin start (rather than odadmin reexec)?

Also, are you running the Desktop on the same machine, or on a Windows machine
across the network?  If the latter, just reinstalling the Desktop probably won't
help you - you should be looking at things like:-

1)  Is the oserv running on the Solaris machine?  (If not, have you changed the
IP address or the hostname of the machine recently?)
2)  Is your name resolution working OK - forward and reverse DNS lookups for
example?
3)  Can you ping both ways using hostnames as well as IP addresses?
