Thanks,

I found one of the files (wsx6302msm) only had .p and .m files. Is there
anyway to make a file with no extension from the .p and .m files?

Oh. I believe it by 'ls' output order in the /usr/OV/bitmaps/C directory.
Compare
the output of 'ovw -config' to the order of 'ls'.
Take a look in there at all of the Cisco ones. For each one, there should
be one
file with no extention, and pairs of files for each size. One error usually
involves
a missing file, the one with no extention; you need to get rid of the ones
that
go with it. Another error usually involves a file missing its mate ( a .p
and no
.m or something like that.) Another error involves files which are present
but
contain bad data. Another error involves a file of size 0. If you don't
need these
particular symbols, you can just remove all of the files involved with
them. But
then you need to go into the Ciscoview symbols file (in /usr/OV/symbols/C)
and remove the references to these bitmaps, whether you are using them or
not.

Cordially,

When I run the nv6000 -verify, I get a long list of commands (1255 lines)
and at the end it says verification complete. I looked through the file
and
could not find any line that looked like a failure or an error.

When I run the nv6000 -config, it gets to a specific symbol (cpw216) and
that is the last successful symbol compiled.

I am trying to determine how the files are processed (i.e. by OID, order in
oid_to_sym file, etc) to determine what the next file would be.

Patrick / Leslie: I've had this in the past, to clear it up, I'd suggest
the
following:
1) close map
2) nv6000 -verify | more (this will show which bitmap it is dying on
3) nv6000 -config | more
4) correct or delete bitmaps which are causing issue
5) open map

I believe that you won't need to cleanup any bitmaps just run the two
nv6000
commands to re-read the files correctly.

Subject: Error reading background file

Hello,
I recently updated some of our Cisco view information in NetView and since
the upgrade, I have started to received the following message when the
system starts up:
Error during reading background file. Press Ok.
Everything seems to work fine (i.e. the devices all have icons). We don't
use back ground bitmaps (at least not yet). I am assuming this is related
to the bitmaps in the /usr/OV/bitmaps/C directory. When I do a
NetView -config, I get the same message and it appears to be after a
particular file that is being worked on.
My question is what order does the NetView -config process the bitmaps. I
assumed that it was top to bottom from the oid_to_sym file, but based on
the
order of the symbols being processed, it does not appear to be so.
Any help would be appreciated.
Patrick
