Patches in Tivoli have traditionally been one-way only, with no way to pull them
off once installed. Even Bill's method below does not really remove a patch, it
merely let's you fake out the oserv so you can install a different one. That is
typically what you have to do for the Framework.

NetView is a slightly different story. NetView does give you a way to back out
a NetView patch (5.1.1 or 5.1.2) PROVIDED (and I cannot emphasize this enough)
that you took what is called a snapshot (really just a copy of all affected
files) BEFORE you installed the patch. As explained in the Release Notes,
and in the README in th /BCK directory on the CD, you use the nvpatch command
with snapshop option to take the snapshot, and the backout function to remove
the patched code and replace it with what you saved in the snapshot. Note that
nvpatch is not installed as it is patch dependent -- it remains on the CD.

try this tip:
If you run into the case where you have put a product or patch on the Framework,
and

you then try to install a patch or product that is older and you get the error
message that

the patch or product is subsumed, you may recover by doing the following.

1. Remove all reference to the patch or product in your managed node .installed
files.

2. The error is Product and or patch has been subsumed:

 wlookup -ar PatchInfo
3.1-TMP-0002    1997933334.1.485#TMF_Install::PatchInfo#
Inventory_3.1   1997933334.1.683#TMF_Install::PatchInfo#
TMF_3.1_SP1     1997933334.1.511#TMF_Install::PatchInfo#

 wregister -u -r PatchInfo Inventory_3.1

 This will unregister the patch Inventory_3.1

 wlookup -ar ProductInfo

 This will give you a listing of currently registered products.

  wregister -u -r ProductInfo Inventory_3.1

Now you should be able to go back and install the older patch and product.

hi all,

 Is there a way to remove a patch that was installed on Framework or on Netview
selectively? ( like the NVTMP311 patch )

thanks,

Andr
