The first messages would also be caused by starting the map as a
non-root user, I suspect. There is a registration file in /usr/OV/registration/C
for the menu selections regarding the web server, and the for the start-up
of the webquery process. It seems a little odd to me that you should see
an error message about it, but it might be normal. If I were you I would put
on the 5.1.1 patch, since there were some fixes in the area of root user and
web stuff. If you want, you can disable the thing altogether by removing
the -Initial flag from the command in the registration file. Do a
grep webquery * while you are in /usr/OV/registration/C if it is not
obvious to you where it is.

Subject: startup error messages

I am resending this message because it was sent late on Friday over a
holiday weekend. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am running NV 5.1 on AIX 4.2.1 on an H10 server.

The problem that I am having is that when I start NetView I receive two
error messages. They are:

/bin/ksh: /usr/OV/web/httpd/cgi-bin/TME10_NetView_Binaries/webquery:
0403-006 Execute Permission Denied.

chmod: /usr/OV/tmp/.Nvlogname: Operations not permitted

The first error message I am not sure about at all. We don't use webquery
at all, so I don't know what I need to do to get rid of this message. The
second one is probably due to a log being created by root, and then starting
NetView as another user.

Anyone familiar with either of these messages? Or how to get rid of them?
