Richard,
It should do as you say.

You don't state how big of system you're doing this from.  If its small
I'd guess that your pings are falling behind.

Go into Performance Monitor >> Object=NetView >> Counters =
NETMON:PingsBehind
and check for yourself.

If its not this... I'm not sure what it would be.

I am monitoring about 2500 devices with Netview for up/down status
basically.  I have my polling interval set to every 3 minutes.  But when my
nodes go down Netview turns the status icon red but when they come back up
it takes longer than 3 minutes for the status to change back to green.
Sometimes it doesn't change back to green until a do a manual ping.  Is
there something I'm missing I though Netview polled every ip device every 3
minutes if that is how I have it set.
