I don't see a problem with the databases, but there could be a smalll problem if
you just copy over your V4 trapd.conf and later want to forward events to TEC.
Are you doing that, Ken?

The reason is that V5 added the TEC event classes used by the old tecad_nv6k
adapter to trapd.conf, so that any TEC rules set up on those events would still
function. They won't be there if you just copy over your trapd.conf instead of
doing the merge in the migration. You could still set up TEC forwarding under
these circumstances, and it would still work, but now every NetView event would
be sent as part of the "Nvserverd_event" class and would not have a specific one
defined. That may be nothing to worry about, but it will be different.

I would not conclude that migrating is necessarily "fraught" with problems. I
strongly endorse James Shanks' correct way of doing things unless you have the
specific situation where the "fast migration" is applicable, that is, all you
want to preserver is your trapd.conf customizations and your current maps and
the new NetView 5.1.1 has all the applications that your old NetView 4.1 install
had. In this specific case, the tar and untar of the /usr/OV/database directory
is simple, easy and 'bulletproof'.
