I'd suggest turning on netmon tracing for pings (see the man page for
netmon) and checking the current processing for yourself. You'll see that
it is not a serial process, but overall processing time to poll a given
number of managed devices can vary from network to network. Watch how long
it takes to cycle through your current network, then do the math to estimate
how 5000 more status pings will fit into your cycle.

I know this question has been ask many times on this server, but I'm unable
to find any reference to it. How does Netview go about polling devices, is
this done in a serial manner, and is there a delay in the time that Netview
waits before pinging the next node ? I trying to determine what effects
adding an addition 5,000 nodes will to do to Netview and other resources ?

Thanks in advance
