Re: ownership changing from root to bin
The one in particular that seems to change
ownership is snmpget. I use this command in another script I run outside of
Netview. So most of them should be owned by bin? What ones should be owned by
Changing? By default,
the vast majority of the modules in /usr/OV/bin are
as belonging to bin, and always have been (pardon the pun).
few seem to be shipped as root, though they belong to processes I
work on, so I cannot tell you why. But unless you
install an efix, I
wouldn't expect them to ever change, and certainly not
unless the root user changes them (not a good idea from
where I sit). Of
course, if you install an efix, and then upgrade,
the efix would get
overlaid with a new module belonging to bin. Is
this what you are seeing?

Subject: ownership changing from
root to bin
I remember this being
discussed some time ago. Every so often, I notice
that the files in my
/usr/OV/bin directory have had their ownership changed
from root to bin.
What is causing this?
