I just recently did this, it will not hurt the migration at all. After
running in "test" mode for a while I changed the IP address to the IP
address of the "old" server so we wouldn't need to change the trap
destination on literally thousands of SNMP agents. After doing so I ran
reset-ci and NetView was happy. The only problem I had was getting Framework
to be happy again after the IP/name change. From the problems I ran into I
believe if the name had stayed the same and only the IP address changed this
would also have gone smoothly.

Of course, if you are going to leave your new server with the new
name/address you should have no problems at all.
