Yes, the router would affect the packet size, but for all servers using it
as a default gateway. So, if you had two servers and two routers on the same
ring, this could be a possible scenario.

If you only have one router on the ring, the MTU can be set in the server
using "ifconfig".

"man ifconfig" should point you in the right direction
