Jane,

I'm not on 5.1 yet but during our planning for the migration we
asked support about the ulimit setting on page 9/10 of the release notes.
We got the following reply which may help you with your problem:
--------
The ulimit commands that need to be set in either /etc/rc.nfs or
/etc/Tivoli/oserv.rc are required for the NetView server. Without
these settings, we find that NetView fails to consistently display
icons (i.e. now you see them, now you don't!). Typically the
Internet map has few or no icons.
.
If you set the ulimit commands in rc.nfs, you should reboot to activate.
If you set them in oserv.rc, do "/etc/Tivoli/oserv.rc stop" followed
bu "/etc/Tivoli/oserv.rc start".

I have just installed my new Framework 3.6 and NetView for AIX 5.1 on
AIX 4.2.1. Whether I start the EUI from the Tivoli menus or from
nv6000, I get a normal startup but as soon as I double click on my
Internet icon, all icons disappear. I used to see this occasionally
with fw 3.2 and NV 5.0 but it now looks like a dead cert! nv6000.log
has
ovw: BadAccess (attempt to access private resources denied)

The release notes say NV needs to run under X11R5 and that the Tivoli
desktop startup and nv6000 fixes this. I have checked the nv6000 script
which does look like it fixes libpath and I have checked that said
libpath exists.

Anyone got this combination working???
