Peter,

Couple possible solutions, first being if you didn't have the NetView server use DNS prior to discovery that would be the obvious culprit for the IP address labels.  You'll have to wait for netmon and ipmap to sync (i.e. configuration change).  Secondly, (possibly the most likely) verify that reverse lookup is configured properly on your DNS.

Good luck,
Jonathan

Hi there!

Today I have started my recently installed NetView5 on AIX 4.2.1!
I have put some of the loopbackadresses into the seed file - such as described in the users guide!

It has been discovering and discovering all of the routers - wow, but what have I done to deserve only IP addresses as labels instead of names???
I have switched the machine to a nameserver, not using a /etc/hosts file.

Any ideas out there?

Give me a hand!

Thanks a lot for yer help

Peter (lightly frustrated)
