You should have (or need) a line in your vm.conf along the lines of:

MEDIA_ID_BARCODE_CHARS = 0 8 3:4:5:6:7:8

Assuming ESL is lib0, 8 character barcodes.

Cheers,
Nic

Subject: [Veritas-bu] HP ESL G3 Tape Library Barcode Issues

Hi All

Hope everyone is well.

Can someone advise on this?

I have implemented an HP G3 ESL Library under NBU 7.5 - However, I have a problem.

When doing the Inventory, it is showing the Media ID as the first 6 characters of the Barcode, rather than the last 6 characters of the Barcode.

For example, what I expect to see is W955L5, but what I am seeing is SSW995 being imported!

Any ideas as HP is telling me it is a NBU issue, but I was under the impression that by design, NetBackup imports the last 6 characters of the barcode.

Thanks, Simon
