ok folks!

Thanks for all the commands that allowed me to troubleshoot this issue!

In fact, it was an FQDN name issue!
The netbackup server was in a bad dns domain. it was put in dnsdomain2 where it 
shall have been put in dnsdomain1

I think the last line of the bpcd log helped me:
<8> bpcd peer_hostname: gethostbyaddr failed : The requested name is valid, but 
no data of the requested type was found.
