Doug,

Good idea.

Simon,

I've only used the command line for restoring from UNIX/Linux.

The PDF referenced by this link:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH52833

Is for Windows command line usage and has a section for bprestore so
will be more helpful on what you need to do for Windows.

One thing: UNIX/Linux are case sensitive so "-f" and "-F" are two
different things. The document shows both flags are available for the
Windows command so presumably bprestore itself on Windows is case
sensitive. (As also evidenced by comment in the document that drive
letters must be upper case.) Be sure to use the lower case "-f".

In general you can either restore full directories or specific files.
That is to say in list files I've had both:
/database/instance/data1
--OR--
/database/instance/data1/file1.dbf
/database/instance/data1/file2.dbf

In the first list I would put in entire directories (filesystems
actually but NBU doesn't care at that level). In the second list I put
in specific files (sometimes I do this when I want restore a subset of
files like you do). You can have as many directories and/or filepaths
as you want.

***WARNING***
Be sure to read the entire thing:
A modification of Doug's idea: If you tell it NOT to overwrite existing
files you could tell it to restore all files without creating a list.
The downside to this approach is it would restore files that were
deleted on purpose since the backup. The ***RISK*** to this approach
is if you don't do the specification right you could end up overwriting
files you didn't intend to overwrite (i.e. non-zero byte files).
***WARNING***

I would find all zero byte files and delete them. Then do a restore and
make sure you check skip file if it exists. Any file that was not zero
bytes will not be replaced an all the files that were zero byte will be
restored.

Im getting 2 problems now

1) Status 227 in the GUI
2) Exit Status 100: System error occurred

I have had to re-do the file again. Its worse than I first thought, and
file sizes of each file is roughly 10 - 50MB per file!
So a restore to same location is needed.

Jeff, I may need some advice, as the file structure (paths where the
files are located) have spaces on and no spaces. Some also exceed 256
characters, which is going to prove an issue!

The date is also from a Month end backup 23rd Dec 2010.

Any advice, is apprecaited. I have the Command Window out, so I am
getting somewhere, but not fully restoring. :(
