All of our clients are set for 30 minutes.

There is very little performance impact on the backup, I don't even think you could measure it, as the checkpoint is a log entry on the client side. It's not kept on tape as someone thought.

FWIW, for all of our jobs that we have to break up, we create an individual policy since you cannot restart individual streams. If a 'stream' fails, we restart just that policy.

Has anyone done any benchmarks to see how much more capacity is used on tape
for a restore or how much additional time is consumed vs. not using it?

I think its a good thing, I am just wondering about the overhead.
